I’ve always tried to accomplish several things with my books.
First is to write books that don’t yet exist. While this seems obvious, many just rehash the same tired territory. Second, I always strive to provide information that is new to every reader, no matter their knowledge level. This takes some digging, but that’s really the fun of these creative projects. Third, I’m looking to change the way my readers perceive the topic and their relationship to it. Finally, I try to always do this in a clear and encouraging voice, no matter how intimidating the subject matter may be.
One important aspect of this is presenting information visually whenever possible. I’ve had various degrees of involvement in the design of my books, but I always put together the basics of the explanatory visuals.
